Royal Health Awareness Society Receives an Excellence Award At Safe Kids Worldwide Forum |

The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) has received the Safe Kids
Worldwide Award – Global Programs Child Passenger Safety in recognition of its
outstanding efforts in recent annual ‘Road Safety Day’ under the umbrella of the
‘Third UN Global Road Safety Week’ campaign. In the launch of it, RHAS worked in
close collaboration with the World Health Organization, the Jordanian Traffic
Institute and the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), The Ministry of Education,
and the Ministry of Health to ensure its smooth implementation and success.
RHAS was presented with the Safe Kids Worldwide Award following the successful
launch of its Road Safety Day that gathered 150 students selected from 6 schools
that implement RHAS’ “Think First” Program, which gained significant exposure
and drew the attention of senior decision-makers in Jordan. Moreover, Safe Kids
Worldwide was thoroughly pleased to see the great number of signatures received
by participants’ showing their support for RHAS’s campaign.
The award was received by RHAS representatives during their attendance at the
Safe Kids – PrevCon event held in Washington DC, which also saw the
participation of several US members of state. RHAS further received notable
recognition for its ‘Think First’ program, which aims to integrate injury
prevention measures in the daily lives of children across Jordan. The Think
First program gives young students along with their parents, basic information
on the anatomy of the spinal cord and its functions as well the brain and the
seriousness of any injuries sustained to it. Moreover, the program highlights
the importance of both drivers and passengers observing safety while on the
road.
The Director General of RHAS, Ms. Enaam Barrishi, commented on the award saying:
“It is with great honor that we receive this internationally acclaimed award,
which is primarily due to the unwavering dedication put forth by our team to
ensure the success of our awareness campaigns. RHAS’ chief aim is to establish a
safe and friendly environment for children to prosper in.”
It is worth mentioning that the Road Safety Day was launched in Tlaa’ Al Ali on
May 7th under the supervision of the Greater Amman Municipality and patronage of
the Mayor of Amman, Aqel Biltaji. The event consisted of educational and
recreational activities that emphasize the importance of observing road safety
measures.
The Royal Health Awareness Society continues to represent the Safe Kids
