The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS), and in cooperation with the Ministry of Health launched the second phase of the Global Micro Clinic Project in Khraibet il soug Health Centre, Naour Health Center, and Wadi il Sair Health Center. The phase will last for 8 months and will target 375 patients.
RHAS is currently holding training workshops for the patients that include Fasting blood glucose (FBG), measuring blood pressure, weight, height, waist circumference, pressure, and heart rate.
The second phase will divide the participants into 3 groups, where each group will be receiving different way of awareness about diabetes.
It worth mentioning that GMCP reached 11% of the Kingdom’s comprehensive health centers covering 42% of Amman’s Centers. Moreover the project was implemented in “Ein-Al Basha” one of the poverty pocket areas in Jordan according to the Ministry of Planning latest reports, there was a 65 % improvement in HbA1c levels, 25 % of the patients reached normal levels of HbA1c, and 70 % of patients were able to lose weight.
Global Micro Clinic Project is a community based health program whereby diabetic patients form support groups that are called micro clinics.
The groups undergo training and awareness sessions that seek to empower people to prevent and manage diabetes.
488 Micro– Clinics were formed in three areas: (Al Hashmi al Shamaly , Amman Al Shamel , Abu Nussier), with a total number of 1800 diabetic and pre- diabetic participants. Each Micro- Clinic consists of 2-5 members forming a “Support Group”. This encourages patients to assist one another in regular exercise, diet plan maintenance and continuous monitoring of glucose levels.
